Duck Bay Cottage 1

Duck Bay Cottage 1 is one of a pair of cottages on a private gated drive at the south-western end of Loch Lomond, with the Duck Bay Hotel restaurant directly across the road and a piece of pebbled beach a few hundred yards beyond. The front rooms look across the road to the loch itself. The two cottages share a wall and the drive; each has its own back garden and its own front door. Inside, the cottage has three floors. Day-to-day life happens on the ground floor with the kitchen, a six-seat breakfast area, a separate lounge with the electric woodburner, and the bathroom that serves the whole house. One double bedroom takes the first floor on its own. The top floor adds two more doubles, each with a pull-out single for a child. Three rooms for three couples, with the pull-outs for children if a family fills the upper rooms. Back on the ground floor, the kitchen is set up to cook real meals rather than reheat them. A breakfast area built for six handles the practical end of the stay. The electric woodburner takes the chill off a wet afternoon, with biomass central heating running quietly in the background. Outside, the back garden is enclosed, with the barbecue and garden chairs catching the last of the evening light. Out front, the lawn between the two cottages is open to the neighbour's lawn, with only a low wall along the road. Children and small dogs need supervising out there; the enclosed back is where off-lead actually works. Duck Bay Cottage 2 sits on the other side of the shared wall, with its own back garden and its own kitchen. For bigger family gatherings, book both, with each side of the wall keeping its own ground-floor cooking and upper-floor sleeping. The Duck Bay Hotel lounge is a short walk from the front door, close enough to skip the taxi and the coat. Cameron House sits a stretch further along the shore for the spa or a longer walk back to tea. The pebbled beach on the loch is a few hundred yards through the side path, set back from the road and close enough for a paddle in summer. An easy evening here runs from the Duck Bay Hotel restaurant across the road, to the hot tub bubbling out back, then up to bed.
